Description
In December 2013, the Attorney General of Canada filed a Request for Direction regarding the implementation of the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement (2006) by the Corporation of Catholic Entities Party to the Indian Residential School Settlement (CCEPIRSS). Specifically, Canada sought clarity from the courts on CCEPIRSS’ deduction of its legal fees from its financial payments under the Settlement Agreement. In January 2014, CCEPIRSS filed a response. Affidavits were submitted by both parties and cross-examinations followed. On May 7, 2014, Alexander Gay, counsel for the Attorney General of Canada, cross-examined Pierre Baribeau, a lawyer and the official representative of CCEPIRSS, regarding CCEPIRSS’ response. Gordon Kuski and W.R. (Rod) Donlevy appeared for the Plaintiffs, and Alexander Gay and Anne McConville appeared for the Defendants. Pamela Stellick, a senior analyst with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC), was also present.

In the cross-examination, Gay questions Baribeau about CCEPIRSS and the terms of IRSSA, particularly in relation to the administrative expenses for CCEPIRSS.

The cross-examination included Exhibit A: "Affidavit of Pamela Stellick (Sworn February 12, 2014) - Volume I and Volume II", but the exhibit is not included in this scanned version of the file.
