We welcome you to the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre.

The records on our site emerge from the cultural and physical genocide that the Canadian government and churches conducted through the Indian Residential School System, including the ongoing impacts.

Bearing witness to these records may become overwhelming. If you are a Survivor or an Intergenerational Survivor and would like support, you can call the 24-hour National Indian Residential School Crisis Line at:

Description
Saddle Lake Cree Nation disclosed in a news conference the investigation of unmarked graves near the Blue Quills residential school site. Saddle Lake Council member Jason Whistkeyjack noted that human remains had been discovered in 2004 when graves were being dug in the community cemetery, located near the residential school. Unmarked graves have subsequently been discovered and in 2021, the Acimowin Opasipw Society was formed to investigate them. Saddle Lake Cree Nation is requesting community assistance to identify the missing children and federal funding for ground penetrating radar and mental health services.
