We welcome you to the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre.

The records on our site emerge from the cultural and physical genocide that the Canadian government and churches conducted through the Indian Residential School System, including the ongoing impacts.

Bearing witness to these records may become overwhelming. If you are a Survivor or an Intergenerational Survivor and would like support, you can call the 24-hour National Indian Residential School Crisis Line at:

CBC, Globe and Mail report on findings

October - November 2021
Description
CBC and The Globe and Mail published a number of articles and interviews investigating the 2015 court case. They argued that the Corporation of Catholic Entities Party to the Indian Residential School Settlement (CCEPIRSS) had circumvented the terms of the original 2006 Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement and side-stepped their full responsibility, with the assent of the Court of the Queen's Bench for Saskatchewan. Survivors are calling on the Catholic Church to meet its obligations under the 2006 Settlement Agreement. Many are also calling for a papal apology, a criminal investigation into unmarked graves at residential schools, and the release of all residential school records held by the Catholic Church.
