Description
"This story of the tragic deaths of two young boys, and the conditions at a Residential school in Williams Lake has been reconstructed from events recorded in archival documents. The government investigations, and the responses of the Oblates to the deaths has been retold as they have much relevance to current discussions of the impact of the residential schools on First Nations peoples in Canada. The author emphasizes that although the residential schools have now closed, the relationships that existed between First Nations peoples, the church and the government, that are central to this account, still persist today"--abstract.
