We welcome you to the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre.

The records on our site emerge from the cultural and physical genocide that the Canadian government and churches conducted through the Indian Residential School System, including the ongoing impacts.

Bearing witness to these records may become overwhelming. If you are a Survivor or an Intergenerational Survivor and would like support, you can call the 24-hour National Indian Residential School Crisis Line at:

Description
"This manual was created as a learning and reference tool for groups and organizations providing services to Aboriginal people. Its focus is trauma recovery for Survivors of residential school abuse, as well as for their descendants who suffer the intergenerational impacts. It is designed to serve two purposes. First, it provides a culture-based approach to trauma recovery in the context of residential school abuse for frontline workers. Secondly, it is an educational tool to raise awareness of Aboriginal culture and history in Canada" (Reclaiming Connections : Understanding Residential School Trauma Among Aboriginal People: A Resource Manual , pg. 5).
