Bi-Giwen: Coming Home – Truth Telling from the Sixties Scoop. The Legacy of Hope Foundation is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that was founded in 2000 to educate Canadians about residential schools and their ongoing legacy in child welfare initiatives such as the Sixties Scoop. The Foundation’s mandate is to facilitate Survivors’ healing, address anti-Indigenous racism, and foster just relationships among Canadians. Over the last twenty years, the Legacy of Hope has developed a collection of videos that accompany its ground-breaking exhibits. The
Our Stories...Our Strength residential school Survivor stories, which were recorded in various communities across Canada between 2004 and 2008, share Survivors' personal and often painful accounts of residential school and its ongoing impact on their lives, families, and communities. The
Bi-Giwen series feature first-person oral testimonies of Indigenous Survivors of the Sixties Scoop, and reflects upon their pain and loss. Both sets of videos, along with the other materials in this collection, honour Survivors’ enduring strength, courage and resilience.
