We welcome you to the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre.
The records on our site emerge from the cultural and physical genocide that the Canadian government and churches conducted through the Indian Residential School System, including the ongoing impacts.
Bearing witness to these records may become overwhelming. If you are a Survivor or an Intergenerational Survivor and would like support, you can call the 24-hour National Indian Residential School Crisis Line at:

The Kamloops Indian Residential School operated between 1890 and 1978, and was the largest residential school in Canada. The Roman Catholic Church administered the school from 1890 to 1969. From 1970 to 1978, the Government of Canada oversaw the site as an Indian day school and residence. This featured collection includes photographs, historical documents, and Survivor testimonies related to the school. Additionally, there is a selection of testimonies from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's regional hearings, which included Survivors from the Kamloops Residential School.
