Federal government files appeal

Description
Stephen Harper's government appealed the ruling of the Saskatchewan Court of Queen's Bench. Survivors and their families also opposed the new settlement. Only $3.7-million had been raised in the Catholic Church’s “Moving Forward Together” fundraising campaign, meaning CCEPIRSS had fallen short by over $21 million on this obligation. Many Survivors and their families looked to the Vatican to make up the shortfall (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation).
