Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement

IRS Settlement Agreement approved

Description
On 24 April 2006, all parties signed the final Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement that would be presented to the courts for their approval. On 10 May 2006, the cabinet approved the Agreement, and on 15 December 2006, at the Court of Queen’s Bench in Regina, Saskatchewan, Justice Dennis Ball certified the class action and approved the terms of the Agreement. The courts in eight jurisdictions across Canada followed in the ensuing months.
