First national class action filed

Description
A claim was filed in Ontario Superior Court of Justice by Charles Baxter, Sr., Elijah Baxter and other Survivors who attended residential schools across Canada, thereby establishing a national class action (Baxter v. Canada (Attorney General), 2005 CanLII 18717 (ON SC)). Survivor associations and litigants from across Canada joined the Baxter class action, including the Shubenacadie Indian Residential School Survivors Association.
