The records on our site emerge from the cultural and physical genocide that the Canadian government and churches conducted through the Indian Residential School System, including the ongoing impacts.

This report was prepared on behalf of the National Action Committee for the Status of Women (NAC). It is a companion document to an earlier report prepared by Stephanie Kellington for Phase One of the NAC "Missing Voices Project". The "Missing Voices Project" was undertaken by NAC to learn more about women's experiences with the child welfare system. In particular, this report gives voice to the stories of Aboriginal women, those who have been most marginalized in Canadian society, and within the child welfare system.
