We welcome you to the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre.

The records on our site emerge from the cultural and physical genocide that the Canadian government and churches conducted through the Indian Residential School System, including the ongoing impacts.

Jones, Marianne; Bear, Jeff
Description
"As a documentary filmmaker, Tracey Jack believes in understanding one's community first and foremost, and she's not afraid to tackle any topic. She has explored such tough stories as drug and alcohol abuse and violence in REZcovery, community murders in Lateral Violence, and the long-term effects of the residential school system in Crying in the Dark. Her films convey her sensitivity to the communities in which they are made, including her own Okanagan community. Jack has won many awards for her work and contributions to the community, including first and second place in the Best Documentary category at the 2003 Native American Journalists Association for her films Crying in the Dark and REZcovery. She has a firm commitment to honouring her Okanagan roots and the Syilx voice through her storytelling."
