Document consists of a Vancouver Daily Province article about missionary interactions with Indigenous people at Coqualeetza.

This article is a tribute to Rev. Charles Montgomery Tate, several months after his death. Tate was the Methodist missionary who, along with his wife Caroline, and with financial help of the Woman's Missionary Society, established the Coqualeetza Residential School in 1886 (then known as the Coqualeetza Home). The author of this article exposes the prevailing attitude of the dominant culture by referring to "the necessity of removing the Indian children from their home environment and teaching them in useful pursuits." She praises the Tates for their "unselfish love" in training the children.
